Our aim is to make your time as pleasant as possible. In a simple and uncomplicated way.

Enjoy the Wehrburg’s unique setting - the only one of its kind in South Tyrol!

Our castle hotel lies 600 m above sea level on the Tisner Plateau, with a splendid view of the Etschtal Valley. In good weather one can see the entire mountain panorama from the Dolomites to the Rosengarten group. Experience relaxation and regeneration on the hiking trails that wind through the vineyards and orchards surrounding

Wehrburg Castle. The spa town of Merano and our capital city of Bolzano are each just a few kilometres away, and both can be easily reached with public transportation. The villages of Tisens and Prissian are also popular excursion destinations. Here you’ll find the International Path of Artwork in Felt, and fortresses and castles such as Katzenzungen Castle, with the world’s largest and probably oldest grapevine.

Discover medieval history

As soon as you enter the castle courtyard you’ll be entranced by the medieval ambience of Wehrburg Castle. The fairy-tale beauty of the two towers together with the originally preserved castle complex always brings looks of wonder to our guests’ faces. The history of the castle begins in the 13th century. Small fascinating details and the old castle wall give testimony to the Wehrburg’s service as a bulwark during the Middle Ages.

Wehrburg Castle owes its current well-preserved condition to the Hungarian Count Albert of Eperjessey, who in around 1900 ordered its complete restoration. The castle was sold in 1956 to Hermann Holzner, who subsequently converted it into a hotel.

Spacious rooms, including the former Knights’ Hall, are available to our guests for relaxation and socialising. The castle also has a small 15th-century chapel. Dedicated to St. Erasmus, this chapel invites our guests to come inside for a moment of tranquillity and reflection.

Stay in the tower or palas of a genuine castle

Our 3-star hotel has 23 rooms, comprising 4 single rooms and 19 double rooms. They are located in the palas building and in the two 18-metre-high towers. Our guests can enjoy a special castle atmosphere in the simply furnished tower rooms. The unique and breathtaking view of the entire Etschtal Valley makes up for the strenuous climb up the 90 steps via spiral staircase. The towers radiate a special aura of serenity, which releases new energies and replenishes one’s reserves. The rooms in the palas of our castle hotel are comfortable with a simple yet elegant style. They have no TV, Internet or mini bar, instead affording our guests a special place to slow down and regenerate.

Enjoy leisure time in nature, and rejuvenate

Our outdoor pool is the ideal place for those who want a little physical activity during their holiday. It’s accessible over 70 steps, and is a great place to get in some laps. Loungers and sunshades provide extra comfort. The swimming pool also affords a unique, breathtaking view over the entire Etschtal Valley. There’s also a playground for children, and adults might relax over a game of outdoor chess.
